Site assessments, remediation, and water treatment.

Site & environment

BBD’s Environmental Services Group has the expertise to guide clients through the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and develop the right environmental documentation. Our detailed permit applications, knowledge of local resources, and positive relationships with agencies facilitate timely permit approvals and clearances, a proactive approach that keeps projects from experiencing unnecessary delays.

## Why BBD Engineering

Our leadership has engineered and field-tested water-treatment systems on real sites, including landfill leachate treatment. That hands-on experience means practical, buildable remediation plans rather than theory. For projects that also involve grading or structures, we coordinate with our civil and [structural teams](https://bbdengineering.com/services/structural-engineering/).

### Licensed Professional Engineers

Every set of drawings is prepared and sealed by a licensed PE and designed to the codes that apply to your project.

### One Coordinated Team

When your project crosses engineering services, the same team handles all of it, so nothing falls through the gaps.

### Clear Quotes and Timelines

We scope and quote each project up front, with honest timelines and responsive communication throughout.

### Licensed in the Lower 48 States

Our professional engineers are licensed in all the lower 48 states and are familiar with each state's unique rules and regulations.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do you handle PFAS and contaminated water?

Yes. Our CEO holds patents in water treatment and contaminant remediation, and we design treatment approaches for difficult water, including PFAS-impacted and high-solids streams.

### What is the difference between a Phase I and Phase II assessment?

A Phase I assessment reviews records and site conditions to identify potential contamination. A Phase II investigation involves sampling and testing to confirm and measure it.

### Do you prepare NEPA documentation?

Yes. We develop categorical exclusions and environmental assessments for federally-funded projects, as well as state environmental checklists for state-funded projects, plus Section 106 and Section 7 consultation support.

### Can you help with wetlands and storm water permitting?

Yes. We provide wetlands delineation with functions and values assessments, and we develop, prepare, and inspect storm water pollution prevention plans (SWPPP).

### Can you take a project all the way through closure?

Yes. We design and implement remedial action, then prepare the reporting needed to document cleanup and pursue regulatory closure.

### Related engineering services

Projects that need environmental engineering often also need [civil engineering](https://bbdengineering.com/services/civil-engineering/), [water/wastewater](https://bbdengineering.com/services/water-wastewater-engineering/) engineering and [surveying and site assessment](https://bbdengineering.com/services/surveying-and-site-assessment/). Because [every engineering service](https://bbdengineering.com/services/) sits with one team, the same engineers coordinate all of it, and you can send everything at once with an engineering services work request.
